CaN (Computer & Network) Tips

컴퓨터를 두 대 이상 쓰는 등의 이유로 따로 떨어져 있는 시스템의 두 폴더를 동기화해야 하는 경우가 있다. Windows에 이미 들어 있는 "서류 가방(Windows Briefcase)"이나 기타 등등의 수동 또는 자동으로 사용하는 방법이 여럿 있다.
Microsoft에서 이런 기능을 제공하는 새로운 PowerToy 하나를 새로 발표했다.

아직 영문 버전만 제공되며 Windows XP가 정품인지 확인을 받은 후 다운로드 받을 수 있다.(물론 정품이 아니어도 받을 수 있긴 있다. 정품 인증 확인 우회하기로......)

일단 왼쪽, 오른쪽 두 개의 폴더를 지정하여 이 한 쌍의 폴더에 특정 이름을 부여하고 다음과 같은 작업 방법 중 하나로 동기화를 시키면 된다.

• Synchronize: New and updated files are copied both ways. Renames and deletes on either side are repeated on the other.
  
• Echo: New and updated files are copied left to right. Renames and deletes on the left are repeated on the right.
  
• Subscribe: Updated files on the right are copied to the left if the file name already exists on the left.
  
• Contribute: New and updated files are copied left to right. Renames on the left are repeated on the right. No deletions.
  
• Combine: New and updated files are copied both ways. Nothing happens to renamed and deleted files.
  

같은 네트워크에 들어있는 PC라면 네트워크를 통한 폴더 기능을 사용하면 되고 외부 네트워크에 있는 경우에는 원격 PC에 FTP 서버를 설치하고 Internet Neighborhood 같은 프로그램을 사용하여 가상 드라이브로 만들어 연결하면 된다. "내 네트워크 환경"에 FTP 서버를 연결할 수는 있으나 SyncToy에서는 폴더로 인식되지 않는다.
