인터넷 익스플로러(IE) 기반의 탭 브라우저로 유명한 Maxthon이 그동안 알파 버전 형태로 진행하던 Maxthon 3 새 버전을 2010년 4월 23일에 베타로 공식 출시했고, 5월 13일에 업데이트인 3.0.10.11 베타 버전을 내놓았다.

3.0 버전이 2.0 버전과 다른 가장 큰 특징은 IE뿐만 아니라 Webkit 기반의 브라우징 엔진을 얹어서 다중 브라우저로 탈바꿈한 것이다. 자기들은 이것을 "Hybrid Display Engine"이라고 부른다. 예를 들면, 구글 크롬과 익스플로러를 한 브라우저로 쓴다고 보면 된다.
